My name is Maria and I will tell you my AIESEC Story I went on a Management Traineeship from AIESEC LC Plovdiv in Poland, Krakow in January 2007. The chance that AIESEC provides for traineeship variety is great and I chose a traineeship in Human Resources area. The company I worked for is called Alexander Mann Solutions/AMS/ and it is one of the biggest international Recruitment Process Outsourcing companies. I had the chance to work first onsite in their client Hewlett-Packard Global Delivery Centre in Sofia and later to move to the AMS Resource Hub in Krakow. This gave me the opportunity to see the recruitment business both from a client and employer’s perspective. It was my first working experience in the area of Recruitment and my traineeship was mainly focused on recruiting IT roles for HP. I was sent to Krakow to participate in a very professional training program designed particularly for Recruitment consultants 2 months after I started my traineeship. All the trainings and majority of my duties were in English. It was the language in which I was working on a daily basis with candidates from many different countries like Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, UK, Scotland, Ireland.

My job consisted of many different tasks related to recruitment like discussing positions with managers from HP, preparing job descriptions and advertising job offers in different job boards, searching for candidates in internal and external databases, conducting phone interviews with candidates in English, preparing and sending shortlists with qualified candidates to managers.

I also had received numerous online trainings on a variety of topics like Phone screening, Long Listing and Short listing, How to use specific advanced Recruitment software, Time management, Communication and effective sourcing strategy.

The traineeship lasted 1,5 year and I enhanced my knowledge and practical working experience in high volume recruitment projects, meeting short deadlines and how to be stress resistant and achieve and exceed set targets. I received an award for League Winner for AMS Projects in the first month of its launching.

I also spent unforgettable time in Krakow, because I met a lot of AIESEC trainees from different countries like Japan, Spain, Italy, Romania, Ukraine, USA, Czech Republic, Malaysia, Brazil, China, Germany, Croatia, Turkey, Poland, UK, India that changed my life and some became my great friends It’s so nice that we organized a lot of social activities like trips around Poland, cultural presentations and cooking, visits of museums and special events in Krakow and other cities. Maybe Polish food was the only thing I didn’t like in Poland, but I enjoyed even studying Polish language and at the end of the traineeship I also started to speak simple Polish…

I will always remember those moments in Krakow and my traineeship, because it helped me to be more independent, to understand better my future career aspirations, to see many new cultures, to travel a lot and to understand better cultural diversity and cultural differences. Working and living abroad gave me another perspective of life and an enriching experience which is unique for me…
